Asian shares traded mixed on Monday as sentiment was shaken by the U.S. Federal Reserve’s announcement that it would end some emergency measures put in place last year to help the financial industry deal with the pandemic.
In Asia, The Shanghai composite surged 1.14%,Taiwan Weighted rose 0.74%, Set composites gained 0.15% whereas the Nikkei 225 fell 2.07%,Jakarta composites lost 0.87%, hang seng plunged 0.36%,straits times dived 0.21% ,Kospi fell 0.13%.
European stocks were slightly lower on Monday, with investors watching Turkey closely following President Erdogan’s surprise decision this weekend to replace the central bank’s chief.
In Europe, the DAX surged 0.14%, the FTSE rose 0.06% while the CAC fell 0.26%.
U.S. stock futures wobbled on Monday, signalling a mixed start to the week for major indexes.
