Rupee depreciated against USD, CNY. On other hands, Rupee traded higher against GBP, EUR, JPY. On Monday, Rupee started with weak note, down by 29 paise at Rs. 73.77 against US dollar. It finally ended 8 paise lower at 73.55 against the US dollar, weighed down by a spike in global crude oil prices and strengthening American currency. USD/INR witnessed an intra-day low and high of 73.18 and 73.78 respectively.
On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 749.85 points or 1.53 per cent higher at 49,849.84, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 232.40 points or 1.6 per cent to 14,761.55.
US dollar traded up against INR, EUR, JPY while traded down against GBP, CAD, SGD, AUD etc.
