RUPEE DEPRECIATED 7 PAISE AMID STRONG DOLLAR

Rupee depreciated against most of the currencies except GBP. Rupee traded flat against JPY. The rupee snapped its four-session winning run to close 7 paise lower at 72.55 against the US dollar on Tuesday amid strong dollar and muted domestic markets. Further, rupee slipped on disappointing macroeconomic data. Rupee touched an intra-day high of 72.36 and a low of 72.64 against dollar.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 31.12 points or 0.06 per cent lower at 50,363.96, while the broader NSE Nifty fell 19.05 points or 0.13 per cent to 14,910.45.

EUR/ USD was up 0.15% to 1.1946 while USD/JPY was up by 0.17% to 108.96.GBP/USD down by 0.13% to 1.3874.
