RUPEE APPRECIATES 33 PAISE AGAINST DOLLAR AMID RISING FPIs

Rupee appreciated against most of the currencies. The rupee extended its early gains to close the day 33 paise higher at 72.47 against the US dollar amid a lackluster trend in the domestic equity market. Rupee touched an intra-day high of 72.39 and a low of 72.76 against dollar. The strengthening of the rupee attributed to the rising foreign portfolio investments (FPI) and falling bond yields in the US, post President Joe Biden signed the $1.9 trillion stimulus.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 397 points or 0.78 per cent lower at 50,395.08, while the broader NSE Nifty declined 101.45 points or 0.67 per cent to 14,929.50.

The Euro traded lower against dollar, down from 1.1953 to 1.1927. AUD/USD settled at 0.7737, down 0.34%.BGP/USD traded on flat.
