Asian stock markets rose on Monday, boosted by optimism about the rollout of coronavirus vaccines after Wall Street ended the year on a new high.
The Kospi rose 2.47%,the Jakarta Composite surged 2.10%,the Hang Seng gained 0.89% and the Shanghai Composite rose 0.86%. The Nikkei 225 lost 0.68% and the SGX Nifty fell 0.05%.
European stocks rose as upbeat manufacturing data and rising commodities prices boosted risk appetite on the first trading day of 2021.
The FTSE 100 is up 2.75% while the DAX gains 1.33% and the CAC 40 rose 1.69%.
North and South American markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices.
