WEEKLY CURRENCY REPORT:RUPEE APPECIATED 0.04% OR 3 PAISE AGAINST US DOLLAR ON A WEEKLY BASIS

On a weekly basis, the rupee ended 3 paise or 0.04 per cent higher at 72.94 against US dollar as compared to the previous week close. For this week, USD/INR touched low at 72.98 and high at 73.15. On Monday, The rupee rose by 4 paise to settle at 72.94 against the US dollar extending its gains despite heavy selling in the domestic equity market. On Wednesday Rupee settles at 72.91, higher by 4 paise over its last close ahead of US Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting. The rupee started with lower on Thursday against US dollar, registering a fall of 21 paise over its previous close and ended at 73.04, lower by 12 paise tracking muted domestic equities and a strengthening American currency. The rupee finished at 72.94, higher by 10 paise over its last close even as the domestic equity markets closed with significant losses.
