WEEKLY CURRENCY REPORT:RUPEE APPECIATED 0.10% AGAINST US DOLLAR ON A WEEKLY BASIS

On a weekly basis, the rupee ended 8 paise or 0.10 per cent higher at 72.97 against US dollar as compared to the previous week close. For this week, USD/INR touched low at 72.92 and high at 73.31. On Monday, The rupee plunged by 22 paise to settle at 73.28 against the US dollar tracking weak domestic equities and a rebound in the American currency. The rupee gained 12 paise to settle at 73.16 against the US dollar on Tuesday on the back of rally in domestic equities. The rupee gained for the second straight day and closed 15 paise higher at 73.02 against the US dollar on Wednesday, supported by a rally in domestic equities. The Indian rupee strengthened on Thursday to close at more than four-month high against the US dollar tracking domestic equities and closed higher by 5 paise at 72.98 to the dollar, a level not seen since September 1, 2020.On Friday, The Rupee settled with a marginal 2 paise gain at 72.97 against the US dollar on Friday, supported by easing crude oil prices.
