RUPEE RISES 15 PAISE TO 73.02 AMID WEAK US DOLLAR, POSITIVE EQUITIES

Rupee strengths against JPY, USD and weak against GBP, EUR, CNY. The rupee gained for the second straight day and closed 15 paise higher at 73.02 against the US dollar on Wednesday, supported by a rally in domestic equities and a weak American currency. USD /INR touched a high and low of 73.14 and 73.00 respectively.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 393.83 points or 0.80 per cent higher at 49,792.12, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 123.55 points or 0.85 per cent to 14,644.70.

US dollar depreciated against most of the currency in the basket. USD traded weak against INR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SGD, AUD, ZAR etc. USD traded higher against EUR, CHF.
