RUPEE RISES 12 PAISE TO 73.16 AMID WEAK US DOLLAR, POSITIVE EQUITIES

Rupee traded up against JPY, CNY, USD and weak against GBP, EUR. The rupee gained 12 paise to settle at 73.16 against the US dollar on Tuesday on the back of rally in domestic equities and weak American currency.USD /INR touched a high and low of 73.13 and 73.31 respectively.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 834.02 points or 1.72 per cent higher at 49398.29, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 239.85 points or 1.68 per cent to 14521.15.

US dollar depreciated against most of the currency in the basket. USD traded weak against INR, EUR, GBP, USD, SGD, SEK etc.
