THE RUPEE DIVED 22 PAISE TO SETTLE AT 73.28

Rupee traded mixed in currency market. The Rupee traded up against GBP, EUR and weak against JPY, CNY and USD. The rupee plunged by 22 paise to settle at a week's low of 73.28 against the US dollar on Monday, tracking weak domestic equities and a rebound in the American currency.USD /INR touched a high and low of 73.18 and 73.30 respectively. Rupee consolidated in a narrow range in the first half of the session but fell in the latter half following weakness in domestic equities.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 470.40 points or 0.96 per cent lower at 48,564.27, while the broader NSE Nifty declined 152.40 points or 1.06 per cent to 14,281.30.

US dollar appreciated against most of the currency in the basket. USD traded on flat against EUR and GBP. USD strengthens against INR, CAD, SGD, ZAR etc.
