RUPEE FALLS SHARPLY AGAINST DOLLAR AMID RISING US BOND YIELDS

The rupee strengthens against GBP, EUR, JPY and depreciates against USD, CNY. Rupee depreciated 21 paise to 73.46 against the US dollar in opening trade on Monday, tracking a rebound in the American currency even as domestic equities were trading with significant gains. Indian Rupee depreciated on the back of strong dollar. The dollar is gaining strength amid rise in bond yields. Finally Rupee settle 17 paise lower at 73.42 against Us dollar.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 486.81 points or 1 per cent higher at 49,269.32, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 137.50 points or 0.96 per cent to 14,484.75.

US dollar appreciated against every currency in the market.
