RUPEE SETTLES FLAT TO 72.95 AGAINST DOLLAR FOR SECOND STRAIGHT SESSION

Rupee appreciated against all of the currency in the basket. The rupee started the day positively against US dollar. After registering marginal gains in early trade, Rupee finally finished at 72.95, higher by 1 paise over its last close. The Rupee hit an intra-day high 72.87 and a low of 72.97 against US dollar. The rupee is trading in a narrow range as market participants are looking ahead to cues from the Monetary Policy Committee decision due this week and the outlook on the economy by the central bank.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 358.54 points or 0.71 per cent higher at 50,614.29, while the NSE Nifty surged 105.70 points or 0.71 per cent to 14,895.65.
