RUPEE DEPRECIATES 11 MONTHS LOWER AGAINST THE US DOLLAR

Rupee depreciated against most of the currency in the basket. The rupee have started weak against US dollar on Thursday. The USDINR remained very volatile ahead of the expiry. Traders shifted their Call writing positions to the March series, which is likely to limit upsides in the USDINR pair. The Indian rupee ended 9 paise lower at 72.43 against the US dollar, weighed down by the spike in global crude oil prices. Rupee moving in a small range of 72.31 and 72.52.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 257.62 points or 0.51 per cent higher at 51,039.31, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 115.35 points or 0.77 per cent to 15,097.35.

US dollar traded mixed. EUR, GBP, CAD, SGD traded up against USD.
