RUPEE HITS ONE YEAR HIGH AGAINST US DOLLAR

Rupee appreciates against USD, JPY, EUR and while depreciates against GBP, CNY. The rupee gained 12 paise to settle at 72.33 against the US dollar on Wednesday supported by positive domestic equities and weakness of the American currency in the overseas market. Rupee touched high of 72.26 and low of 72.42 against US dollar.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 1030.28 points or 2.07 per cent higher at 50781.69. NSE Nifty ended 274.20 points or 1.86 per cent higher at 14982.

US dollar depreciated against most of the currency in the basket. INR, EUR, GBP, CAD, SGD, AUD traded up against USD.
