WEEKLY CURRENCY REPORT:RUPEE APPRECIATES 11 PAISE AGAINST US DOLLAR

Domestic currency market remained positive in this week. Rupee ended 11 paise or 0.15 per cent higher at 72.64 against US dollar on a weekly basis. For this week, USD/INR touched low at 72.57 and high at 72.93. On Monday, Rupee started on stronger note and closed 7 paise higher to settle at 72.68 against the US dollar on the back of positive macroeconomic data and upbeat local equities. On Tuesday, Rupee ended at 72.69 against US dollar, registering a little fall over its previous close amid a muted trend in the domestic equity market. The Rupee settled at 72.75 against US dollar lower by 4 paise amid losses in the domestic equity markets and strengthening American currency in global markets on Wednesday. The Rupee closed higher by 12 paise at 72.64 against US dollar on Thursday following losses in the American currency in the global markets. The Indian currency market remained closed on Friday on account of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.
