RUPEE PLUNGES 7 PAISE TO CLOSE AT 73.03 AGAINST US DOLLAR

Rupee depreciated against all of the currency in the basket. The rupee started the day with positive note against US dollar, appreciated by 6 paise to 72.89 per US dollar on Monday's ahead of the Union Budget 2021-22 presentation in Parliament. Because of Budget presentation today, market remained volatile. Rupee depreciated by 7 paise to close at 73.03 against the US dollar tracking a rebound in the American currency overseas.The Rupee hit an intra-day high 72.84 and a low of 73.15 against US dollar.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 2,314.84 points or 5 per cent higher at 48,600.61, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 646.60 points or 4.74 per cent to 14,281.20.

US dollar appreciated against most of the currency in the basket.
