RUPEE ENDS 12 PAISE HIGHER AT 72.64 AGAINST THE US DOLLAR

Rupee appreciated against all the currency in basket. The rupee opened on a flat note and touched a high of 72.64 against US dollar. It finally ended higher by 12 paise at 72.64 against US dollar on Thursday following losses in the American currency in the global markets.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex tumbled 379.14 points or 0.73 per cent to end at 51,324.69 while the NSE Nifty fell 89.95 points or 0.59 per cent to 15,118.95.

US dollar traded lower against most of the currency in basket. USD down by 0.18% against EUR.JPY up by 0.05% against USD.
