RUPEE DROPS 4 PAISE TO CLOSE AT 72.75 AGAINST US DOLLAR

Rupee strengthened against GBP and EUR. At the same time Rupee weak against USD, JPY, CNY. The rupee opened 20 paise lower at 72.90 against the dollar and registered an intra-day high of 72.70 and low of 72.93. It finally ended at 72.75 against US dollar lower by 4 paise amid losses in the domestic equity markets and strengthening American currency in global markets.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 400.34 points or 0.77 per cent lower at 51,703.83, while the broader NSE Nifty declined 104.55 points or 0.68 per cent to 15,208.90.

USD traded up against INR, EUR, JPY, GBP CAD, SGD while USD traded down against THB, ZAR, HKD.
