RUPEE DECLINE 2 PAISE TO 72.86 AGAINST US DOLLAR

Rupee strengthened against EUR, JPY, CNY while weak against USD, GBP. USD/INR touched a low and high of 72.66-72.87 on Thursday. The Indian rupee ended 2 paise lower at 72.86 against the US dollar amid a firm trend in the domestic equity markets. Rupee ended flat against the US dollar, as possible intervention from RBI offset the impact of foreign flows in local equities.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 222.13 points or 0.43 per cent higher at 51,531.52, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 66.80 points or 0.44 per cent to 15,173.30.

USD traded up against INR, EUR, JPY, GBP, and SEK. USD traded down against AUD, CAD, and SGD.
