RUPEE GAINS 6 PAISE TO CLOSE AT 72.83 AGAINST US DOLLAR

Rupee traded mixed which up against USD, JPY, CNY and down against GBP, EUR. USD/INR touched a low and high of 72.80-72.87 on Wednesday. The market is flat and volatility is muted. Finally, the rupee closed 6 paise higher at 72.83 against the US dollar.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 19.69 points or 0.04 per cent lower at 51,309.39, while the broader NSE Nifty slipped 2.80 points or 0.02 per cent to 15,106.50.

USD depreciated against most of the currency in the basket except JPY and AUD. USD traded down against EUR, GBP, SGD, INR, CHF, THB, CNY etc.
