INDIAN EQUITY MARKET EXTENDED ITS GAIN FOR EIGHTH STRAIGHT SESSION

Domestic Equity Market ended higher on Monday led by gains in IT, Pharma and FMCG stocks. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced the government's two-pronged move to boost capital expenditure and stimulate consumer demand.

The BSE Sensex ended 84.31 points, or 0.21 per cent higher at 40,593.80 levels.18 out of 30 stocks were in advance while 12 stocks were in decline. It touched intraday high of 40,905.49 and low of 40,387.40.

The NSE’s Nifty settled at 11,930.95 levels, up 16.75 points, or 0.14 per cent. 26 out of 50 stocks were in advance while 24 stocks were in decline. It touched intraday high of 12,022.05 and low of 11,867.20.

On Sectorial Front, IT, Pharma, FMCG Indexes were the gainers with a gain of 1.67%, 0.92%, 0.34% respectively while Media, Realty, Metal, Auto ,Bank, Energy Indexes were the losers with a loss of 2.36%, 1.09%, 0.88%, 0.75%, 0.56%, 0.53% respectively.

On BSE, Shares of ITC, Infosys, Asian Paints, HCL Tech, Powergrid, Maruti, TCS, ICICI Bank were the gainers with a gain of 2.59%, 2.23%, 1.29%, 1.21%, 1.14%, 1.07%,0.58%, 0.55% respectively while shares of Bharti Airtel, ONGC,HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Auto, Nestle India ,Kotak Bank were the losers with a loss of 2.33%,1.78%, 1.65%, 1.44%, 1.05%, 0.90%, 0.55% respectively.

On NSE, shares of Infosys, ITC, UPL, Cipla, Asian paints, Dr. Reddy, Wipro, HCL Tech were the gainers with a gain of 2.93%, 2.74%, 1.95%, 1.81%, 1.73%, 1.55%, 1.47%, 1.22% respectively while shares of Bharti Airtel, JSW steel, Gail, HDFC Life, Tata Motors, IndusInd bank, ONGC, HDFC bank ,Eicher Motors were the losers with a loss of 2.81%, 2.74%, 2.63%, 1.92%, 1.84%, 1.61%, 1.56%, 1.54%, 1.52% respectively.

Asian shares were mostly higher on Monday, as worries about the pandemic kept optimism in check despite a rally that closed out last week on Wall Street.

European stocks were mostly higher on Monday tracking overnight gains in Asia on the back of strong Chinese data, while rising coronavirus cases in Europe continued to cap optimism.

TOP STOCKS IN NEWS:

ITC jumped nearly 3% after brokerage house CLSA upgraded the stock to 'buy' from 'outperform'.

Maruti gained nearly 2% as the company has launched a limited-run variant of its S-Cross in India, called the Sigma Plus.

Bharti Airtel lose nearly 3% as the company is about to embark on a massive expansion in its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service, in collaboration with local cable operators who will provide the last-mile connectivity.

Tata Motors lose over 2% as the company’s Q2 PAT may dip 29% Y-O-Y to Rs.855 Crore.
