INDIAN EQUITY MARKET SETTLED WITH GAINS AMID ACROSS THE BOARD BUYING

Domestic Equity market closed with gains on Tuesday as signs of progress on a COVID-19 vaccine spurred hopes for a faster economic recovery.

The BSE Sensex rallied 445.87 points, or 1.01 per cent to settle at a fresh closing high of 44,523.02levels.20 out of 30 stocks were in advance while 10 stocks were in decline. It touched intraday high of 44,601.63 and low of 44,247.12.

The NSE's Nifty settled at 13,055.15 levels , up 128.70 points, or 1 per cent. It touched intraday high of 13,079.10 and low of 12,978.00 .38 out of 50 stocks were in advance while 12 stocks were in decline.

On sectoral front, all the sectors were in green Bank, Realty, Auto, Pharma, Metal, FMCG, Energy, IT, Media Indexes were having gains of 2.46%, 1.79%, 1.71%, 1.22%, 1.09%, 0.84%, 0.34%, 0.26%, 0.05% respectively.

On BSE, Shares of Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Maruti, ITC ,SBI,ICICI Bank ,Kotak Bank were the gainers with a gain of 4.02%, 3.47%, 3.14%, 2.45%, 2.44%, 2.16%, 2.14%,1.41% respectively while shares of HDFC, Titan ,Nestle India, Bharti Airtel, ONGC ,Ultratech Cement, Powergrid ,Infosys, TCS, Bajaj Finance were the losers with a loss of 1.47%, 1.44%, 0.63%, 0.61%, 0.59%, 0.33%, 0.13%, 0.10%, 0.07%, 0.01% respectively.

On NSE, Shares of Adani Ports, Axis Bank ,HDFC Bank, Eicher Motors, Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra ,ITC ,SBI were in the gainer side with a gain of 4.46%, 3.93%, 3.54%,3.52%, 3.44%, 3.05%, 2.52%, 2.39% respectively while shares of Titan, HDFC, BPCL, Nestle India, Gail, Shree cement, ONGC, Ultratech Cement, Bharti Airtel were the losers with a loss of 1.45%, 1.37%, 1.17%, 0.85%, 0.79%, 0.74%, 0.39%, 0.38%, 0.37% respectively.

Asian shares were mostly higher on Tuesday, encouraged by news on the development of coronavirus vaccines and more assurance for a transition of power in the U.S. to President-elect Joe Biden.

European stocks advanced on Tuesday amid growing optimism that another effective coronavirus vaccine has been discovered, and on news that the Trump administration has accepted President-elect Joe Biden’s transition into office.

TOP STOCKS IN NEWS:

Adani ports gained over 4% after the ports and logistics company said it was ranked 14th by the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index 2020, in the global transportation and transportation infrastructure sector.

Axis bank jumped over 3% after Jefferies retained "buy" call on the stock and has raised the target to Rs 700 from Rs 610 per share.

HDFC Bank moved over 3% after CLSA maintained "buy" on the stock.

Mahindra & Mahindra rose over 2% on the expectation of a strong business outlook.
