INDIAN EQUITY MARKET CLOSED WITH HIGHER NOTE LED BY BUYING IN FINANCIAL COUNTERS

Domestic Equity Market ended higher on Tuesday led by buying in financial counters along with the news of another promising coronavirus vaccine lifted hopes.

The BSE Sensex ended the day at 43,952.71, up 314.73 points, or 0.72 per cent . 19 stocks were in advance while 11 stocks were in decline. It touched intraday high of 44,161.16 and low of 43,699.22.

The Nifty fifty settled at 12,874.20, up 93.95 points, or 0.74 per cent.30 out of 50 stocks were in advance while 19 stocks were in decline. It touched intraday high of 12,934.05 and low of 12,797.10.

On Sectoral front, Metal, Bank, Realty, Auto Indexes were the gainers with a gain of 2.49%, 2.05%, 1.91%, 0.97% respectively while Media, Pharma ,Energy, IT, FMCG Indexes were the losers with a loss of 1.34%, 0.69%, 0.59%, 0.30%, 0.14% respectively.

On BSE, Shares of Tata steel, SBI, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, L & T, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, HDFC were the gainers with a gain of 6.24%, 4.59%, 2.81%, 2.81%, 2.62%, 2.50%, 2.09%, 1.87%, 1.80% respectively while shares of NTPC, HCL Tech, ONGC, Infosys, ITC, Powergrid, HUL, Reliance were the losers with a loss of 2.69%, 1.87%, 1.86%, 0.72%, 0.66%, 0.56% respectively.

On NSE, shares of Tata Motors, Tata steel ,HDFC Life, SBI, Adani Ports, SBI Life, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, L & T, Shree cement, Maruti were the gainers with a gain of 6.15%, 5.97%, 5.72%,5.09%, 3.36%,2.95%, 2.90%, 2.85%, 2.59%, 2.33%, 2.30%, 1.97% respectively while shares of BPCL, Hero Moto Corp, NTPC, IOC, ONGC ,Dr. Reddy, HCL Tech ,Infosys, JSW Steel, HUL, Powergrid were the lowers with a loss of 4.25%, 2.62%, 2.53%, 1.96%, 1.93%, 1.79%, 1.72%, 0.72%, 0.58%, 0.56%, 0.53% respectively.

Asian shares rose Tuesday, after the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a record high on optimism that a vaccine may soon control the coronavirus and the economic destruction it’s caused.

European stocks were flat on Tuesday despite a backdrop of more positive coronavirus vaccine news from Moderna.

Tata Motors gained over 6% after a report suggested that the car maker has seen healthy demand for a range of vehicles during the festive season.

Tata steel rose over 5% as the company said it has initiated the process to separate Tata Steel Netherlands and Tata Steel UK.

HDFC Bank jumped nearly 3% as the bank marginally cut its interest rate on retail fixed deposits maturing in one year and one day to up to two years.

Dr Reddy lose nearly 2% as Pfizer Inc and its group companies filed a petition in a US court against Aurobindo Pharma Ltd and Dr Reddy's Laboratories alleging that the Indian drug makers were planning separately to come out with generic versions of its blockbuster multi-billion dollar drug Ibrance (Palbociclib) before expiration of its patent.
