Total turnover stood at Rs. 17633228.86 lakh in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX during the week 23rd to 27th Dec 2020. In commodities Basket, Crude oil , Natural Gas , Aluminium , Nickel, Copper, Lead were the gainers whereas Gold , Silver, Cotton, CPO, Mentha oil were the losers of this week.
In Energy Commodities Both Crude oil and Natural Gas were ended this week marginally up. Crude oil for Dec future settled at Rs. 3364 per barrel, gained by 7.51% in this week ahead of an important OPEC meeting, after settling on Wednesday at the highest level since early March. Mcx Natural Gas Future this week closed With 2.47% Gain.
Gold rates have been on a downward trend for last few weeks as progress on covid vaccine front has improved the outlook on global growth. On MCX, gold futures down over 4.15% at Rs. 48125 per 10 gram while silver futures fell 2.10% to Rs. 58984 per kg in this week. In five days, gold rates in India have dropped nearly Rs. 2000 per 10 gram, in line with a similar fall in global rates. In Global Markets gold remains down over 3% in this week as progress in Covid-19 vaccine development and US President-elect Joe Biden's transition to the White House bolstered risk sentiment.
In Base Metal, Most of the commodities were the weekly gainers. But Zinc Dec future ended with loss of 0.24%. Aluminium Dec contract registered a gain of 0.39 %, closed at 164.6 per kg on Friday as against Rs. 163.95 per kg on previous Friday’s while Copper Dec future registered a weekly gain of 3.23 % at Rs. 578.05 per kg. Lead Dec future closed at Rs. 162.7 per kg on Friday and also recorded a weekly gain of 2.10 % over previous Friday’s. Nickel Dec future registered weekly gain of 1.55% at Rs. 1232.9 per kg on Friday as against Rs. 1214 per kg on previous Friday’s close.
Here, Agri commodities have shown negative sign and reacted negatively. CPO Dec future lose by 4.37% at Rs. 883.7 per 10 kg while Cotton Dec closed at Rs. 20170 per bales on Friday, registered weekly loss of 1.03% over previous Friday’s. Mentha oil Dec futures recorded a weekly loss of 0.51 % at Rs. 949 per kg.
