WEEKLY CURRENCY MARKET 21st- 24th Dec 2020

On a weekly basis, the rupee settled 3 paise or 0.02 per cent higher at 73.54 against US dollar after a heavy volatile session.USD/INR touched low at 73.52 and high at 73.95.On Monday, Rupee depreciated by 23 paise to settle at 73.79 against the US dollar following a massive selloff in domestic equities and strong American currency overseas. The rupee pared most of its initial losses and settled for the day 4 paise lower at 73.84 against the US dollar on Tuesday. Rupee settled higher by 8 paise at 73.76 against the US dollar on Wednesday, tracking strong domestic equities and sustained foreign fund inflows. The rupee climbed 22 paise against the US dollar on Thursday amid positive domestic equities and sustained foreign fund inflows, boosting investor sentiment. The Domestic currency market was shut on Friday for the CHRISTMAS DAY.
