DAILY CURRENCY MARKET 24th DEC 2020

Continuing its winning streak, the rupee climbed 22 paise against the US dollar on Thursday amid positive domestic equities and sustained foreign fund inflows, boosting investor sentiment. Domestic currency appreciated against major currencies except GBP. The domestic unit finally closed at 73.54 against the dollar, registering an increase of 22 paise over its previous close. On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex ended 529.36 points or 1.14 per cent higher at 46,973.54, while the NSE Nifty surged 148.15 points or 1.09 per cent to 13,749.25. Rupee touched intraday low of 73.67 and high of 73.52 against US dollar. Rupee traded positively against JPY, EUR,CNY.

US dollar depreciated against major currencies except JPY. USD traded negatively against INR, JPY, GBP, EUR, CNY, SGD and HKD respectively.
