WEEKLY CURRENCY MARKET 14th-18th DEC 2020

On a weekly basis, the rupee strengthens 10 paise or 0.12 per cent at 73.56 against US dollar.USD/INR touched low at 73.39 and high at 73.67. On Monday, The rupee advanced by 9 paise to settle at 73.56 against the US dollar, buoyed by sustained foreign fund inflows and heavy buying in domestic equities. Rupee depreciated by 7 paise to settle at 73.64 against the US dollar on Tuesday, tracking muted domestic equities. Again rupee appreciated 7 paise to close at 73.58 against the US dollar on Wednesday. Indian rupee ended flat at 73.58 against the US dollar on Thursday. The US treasury department has warned India's central bank to restrict its dollar purchases which has caused the rupee to remain at lower values relative to its fundamentals. On Friday Rupee settled 3 paise higher at 73.56 against dollar.
