WEEKLY CURRENCY MARKET 30th SEP - 4th OCT 2019

This week, Rupee closed 32 paise or 0.45% lower against the dollar. Last week, the domestic currency, ended 40 paise higher against the dollar. The rupee opened 14 paise higher at 70.42 against US dollar on Monday but ended 31 paise lower at 70.87 amid rising demand for the greenback vis-a-vis other currencies overseas, even as crude oil prices eased. Rupee closed 20 paise lower at 71.08 against the US dollar on account of some buying in the American currency on Tuesday. Indian financial markets were shut on account of Gandhi Jayanti on Wednesday. Rupee settled 21 paise higher at 70.87 against the US dollar, helped by weakening of the greenback overseas and easing crude oil prices on Thursday. Rupee traded higher on Friday ahead of the RBI monetary policy outcome and closed with flat note at 70.88 against the US dollar. USD/INR touched weekly low of 70.35 and high of 72.12.
