Rupee opened 14 paise lower at 69.65 on Tuesday and closed 17 paise lower against the dollar at 69.68 owing to increased demand from importers and banks. USD/INR touched intraday low of 69.59 and high of 69.74. Meanwhile, Sensex ended at 39749.73, up 66.44 points, or 0.17 per cent, while Nifty closed with a gain of 4.00 points, or 0.03 per cent, to close at 11928.75. The RBI set a reference exchange rate for dollar at 69.43.
The Indian currency (INR) was trading 12 paise lower at 77.93 as against Euro. The currency pair EUR/INR opened at 77.75, which was previously close at 77.80. Meanwhile, the RBI set a reference exchange rate for Euro at 77.82. The Currency pair GBP/INR and JPY/INR were trading at 88.26 and 0.63 respectively. The RBI set a reference exchange rate for 1 pound sterling at 88.47, while for 100 JPY at 63.38. The other currency pairs ZAR/INR, MYR/INR, SAR/INR and AED/INR were trading at 4.77, 16.62, 18.56 and 18.96 subsequently.
The USD/JPY was trading at 109.49. The currency pair EUR/USD was trading at 1.11. The paired currency EUR/JPY was trading at 122.42. Elsewhere, the currency pair GBP/USD was trading at 1.27. The other currencies pairs AUD/USD, NZD/USD, MYR/USD and SAR/USD were trading at 0.69, 0.66, 0.24 and 0.27 respectively.
