Rupee opened 1 paise higher at 69.73 on Tuesday as against the US dollar on fresh foreign funds inflows amid exit poll predictions of a clear majority for the NDA after settling at 69.74 on Monday. The rupee Closed at 69.73 paise as against the dollar. USD/INR touched intraday low of 69.65 and high of 69.81. NSE Nifty declined 119.15 points or 1.01% to 11709.10, and BSE Sensex ended with a loss of 382.87 point or 0.97% to 38969.80. The RBI set a reference exchange rate for dollar at 69.54.

The Indian currency (INR) was trading 11 paise higher at 77.69 as against Euro. The currency pair EUR/INR opened at 77.87, which was previously close at 77.81. Meanwhile, the RBI set a reference exchange rate for Euro at 77.56. The Currency pair GBP/INR and JPY/INR were trading at 88.49 and 0.63 respectively. The RBI set a reference exchange rate for 1 pound sterling at 88.54, while for 100 JPY at 63.14. The other currencies pairs ZAR/INR, MYR/INR, SAR/INR and AED/INR were trading at 4.83, 16.65, 18.59 and 18.98 subsequently.

The USD/JPY was trading at 110.53. The currency pair EUR/USD was trading at 1.11. The paired currency EUR/JPY was trading at 123.29. Elsewhere, the currency pair GBP/USD was trading at 1.27. The other currencies pairs AUD/USD, NZD/USD, MYR/USD and SAR/USD were trading at 0.69, 0.65, 0.24 and 0.27 respectively.
