WEEKLY COMMODITY REVIEW: MARKETS ENDED WEEK ON A POSITIVE NOTE, COMDEX HELD 3698.05 POINTS

Total turnover stood at Rs. 15008843 lakh in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX during the week June 24th to 28th, 2019. MCX COMDEX at 3698.05 points was up 1.10% on the previous close, Agri-Index by 0.14% at 2883.6 points, Metal Index by 0.62% at 5345.43 points and Energy Index by 2.52% at 2827.69 points.

All contracts traded on MCX clocked substantial rise in various commodities. Mentha oil Jun futures stood as the best performer of this week. Only Cotton, Copper and Silver oil looked down during the week.

In the Energy segment, Crude oil Jul contract gained 1.94% at Rs. 4095 per barrel. But, Natural gas Jul future recorded a weekly gain of 5.25 % at Rs. 160.5 per mmBtu after opened at Rs. 153.5 Per mmBtu on Monday.

Metal index opened at 5320.35 on Monday and closed at 5345.43 on Friday. Most of the commodities were the weekly gainers. Aluminium Jun future recorded with a gain of 1.42 % after opened at Rs. 141.30 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 142.95 per kg on Friday. Copper Jun future registered a weekly loss of 1.11 % at Rs. 411.05 per kg on Friday after opened at Rs. 417.50 per kg. Lead Jun future was opened at Rs. 153.5 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 155.15 per kg on Friday, registered a weekly gain of 1.60 %. Zinc Jun futures gained by 2.18 % at Rs. 203.75 per kg after opened at Rs. 200.30 per kg on Monday as against previous close of Rs. 203.7 per kg. Nickel Jun future registered a weekly gain of 3.13 % at Rs. 907.30 per kg on Friday after opened at Rs. 881.40 per kg on Monday as against previous close of Rs. 879.80 per kg.

In the bullion segment, gold contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 3427046 Lakh, Gold Aug future went up by 0.11% at Rs 34206 per 10 grams. Gold prices recoded a mild gain, taking support from positive global sentiment. Silver Jun future fell by 1.32 % at Rs 37452 per kg.

Agri index was opened with positive note at 2886.6 on Monday and closed at 2883.6 on Friday. Cardamom Jul future recorded a weekly gain of 3.77 % at Rs. 2993.20 per kg. Cotton Jul future was opened with negative note at Rs. 22050 per bales on Monday and closed at Rs. 21830.00 per bales on Friday, registered weekly loss of 1.22%. Mentha oil Jun futures gained 7.96% at Rs. 1359.70 per kg.
