WEEKLY CURRENCY MARKET 19th - 23rd AUG 2019

During the current week, Rupee depreciated 2 paise at 71.66 against US dollar. The rupee closed 26 paise lower at 71.42 against the dollar and touched day's low of 71.47 due to gains in the dollar and crude oil in global markets On Monday . The rupee closed 27 paise lower at 71.70 against the dollar amid growing worries over economic slump on Tuesday. The rupee closed 16 paise higher at 71.55 against the dollar on Wednesday. The Indian rupee on strengthened marginally against dollar tracking gains among its Asian peers as traders assessed the latest remarks from the US on trade talks with China. The rupee closed 25 paise lower at 71.81 against the dollar amid foreign fund outflows and cautious opening in domestic equities on Thursday. The rupee on Friday slipped to 72-mark against the US dollar for the first time in 2019 following selloff in domestic equities amid weakness in Chinese Yuan which fell to a fresh 11-year low level. Rupee recovered later and closed 16 paise higher at 71.66 against the dollar.
