WEEKLY COMMODITY UPDATE: MCXCOMDEX ENDED ON STRONG NOTE; ENERGY INDEX UP 2.71 %

Total turnover stood at Rs. 18872545 lakh in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX during the week 26th to 30th Aug 2019. MCX Comdex started the week on flat note and ended at 3931.07 with gains of 1.79% over previous Friday‘s— the index comprise energy, metals and agri items. The Metal index closed at 6029.94, up 2.08% and Energy index up by 2.71% at 2749.7 while the Agri index was down 0.68% at 2893.38.

Mentha oil, Nickel and Natural Gas future stood as the top gainers of this week, while Cardamom was the top loser.

Metals Index have been rising strongly during this week . In Base Metals, Aluminium Aug contract recorded a gain of 3.54%, closed at 143.25 per kg on Friday as against Rs. 138.35 per kg on previous Friday’s whileCopper Aug future registered a weekly gain of 0.16 % at Rs. 440.75 per kg on Friday and Lead Aug future closed at Rs. 158.8 per kg on Friday and also recorded a weekly gain of 3.42 % over previous Friday’s. Zinc Aug futures gained by 1.71 % at Rs. 184.85 per kg. Nickel Aug future registered a weekly gain of 6.84 % at Rs. 1192.3 per kg on Friday as against Rs. 1116 per kg on previous Friday’s close.

In the bullion segment, gold contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 3830970 Lakh. Gold Oct future down by 0.28% at Rs 38656 per 10 grams. Silver Sep future gained by 4.80 % at Rs 46742 per kg.

In the Energy segment, Crude oil for Sep closed at Rs 3952 per BBL on Friday, up 2.30% over previous Friday’s while Natural Gas for Sep closed at Rs 165.1 per mmBtu, up 5.97%.

Agri index witnessed a decline of 0.68% during this week. Cardamom Sep future lose 5.70% at Rs. 2844.4 per kg on Friday against Rs. 3016.2 per kg previous Friday’s while Mentha oil Aug futures gained 10.46% at Rs. 1435.5 per kg. CPO Aug future lose by 0.76 % at Rs. 551.6 per 10 kg and Cotton Aug closed at Rs. 20440 per bales on Friday, registered weekly loss of 2.43% over previous Friday’s.
