COMMODITY MARKET THIS WEEK 29.01.2018 - 02.02.2018

India’s Multi Commodity Exchanges has recorded a weekly turnover of Rs. 13090631.83 Lacs during this week. MCXCOMDEX opened at 3685.75 on Monday and closed at 3680.69 on Friday, having registered a weekly loss of 0.13 per cent while METAL index opened at 5235.62 on Monday and closed at 5253.77 on Friday, recorded as only weekly gainer, gains of 0.19 per cent. ENERGY index opened at 2938.03 on Monday and closed at 2919.88 on Friday, having registered a weekly loss of 0.61 per cent and stood as the top loser among these indices. AGRI index opened at 2804.53 on Monday and closed at 2792.29 on Friday, having registered weekly loss of 0.43 per cent.

METAL index has registered a weekly gain of 0.19 per cent. Under this index, Base Metals commodities like,ALUMINIUM, COPPER and NICKEL futures were emerged as the weekly losers whileLEAD and ZINCfuture were emerged as the weekly gainers. LEAD Feb future was opened at Rs. 165.90 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 171.90 per kg on Friday, registered a weekly gain of 3.62 per cent. ZINC Feb future was opened at Rs. 223.00 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 226.40 per kg, registered a weekly gain of 1.52 per cent. ALUMINIUM Feb future has shown a downward momentum and registering a weekly loss of 1.29 per cent which was opened at Rs. 143.55 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 141.70 per kg on Friday. COPPER Feb future has registered a weekly loss of 0.82 per cent and closed at Rs. 452.75 per kg on Friday while NICKEL Feb future registered a weekly loss of 0.81 per cent after opened at Rs. 873.90 on Monday and closed at Rs. 866.80 per kg on Friday.

Precious Metals have shown a mixed note in this week where GOLD future was the weekly gainer and SLIVER future was the weekly loser. GOLD Feb future has recorded a weekly gain of 0.72 per cent after opened at Rs. 30150.00 per 10 gm on Monday and closed at Rs. 30367.00 per 10 gm on Friday. Demand for physical gold improved this week in India as jewellers resumed purchases after the government kept import taxes on the precious metal unchanged, while buying remained subdued in most other centres in Asia. SILVER Mar future has registered a weekly loss 3.01 per cent and reached at Rs. 38651.00 per kg on Friday.

AGRI index has recorded weekly loss of 0.43 per cent. Commodities like CARDAMOM and MENTHAOIL were in the positive side while COTTON and CPO were in the negative side. CARDAMOM Feb future was opened at Rs. 1130.00 per kg on Monday and reached at Rs. 1155.60 per kg on Friday, registered a weekly gain of 2.27 per cent. MENTHAOIL Feb future recorded a weekly gain of 4.09 per cent and reached at Rs. 1571.70 per kg. COTTON and CPO Feb futures were recorded weekly loss of 1.18 per cent and 1.09 per cent to reach at Rs. 20160.00 per bales and Rs. 569.30 per 10 kg respectively.

ENERGY index registered with marginally loss of 0.61 per cent. Both NATURALGAS and CRUDEOIL futures were the weekly loser in this index. NATURALGAS Feb future has registered a weekly loss of 7.32 per cent and stood as the top loser in domestic commodity market during this week, to reach at Rs. 184.90 per mmBtu on Friday. CRUDEOIL Jan future has registered a weekly loss of 0.57 per cent and reached at Rs. 4186.00 per BBL on Friday.
