DAILY COMMODITY REPORT February, 21 2018

MCXCOMDEX opened on marginally negative note at 3638.18, decline by 0.15 per cent from its previous closed at 3643.73. METAL index opened on flat positive note at 5294.70, up by 0.04 per cent than previous closed at 5292.11 while ENERGYindex opened on marginally negative note at 2795.72, down by 0.77 per cent from its previous closed at 2817.50 and AGRI index opened on marginally positive note at 2734.78, up by 0.24 per cent from its previous closed at 2728.17. India’s Multi Commodity exchange has recorded turnover of Rs. 2458519.64 Lacs on 20th Jan 2018.

AGRI index was trading an upward momentum in the morning trading session. Under this index all the commodities were trading on positive notes. MENTHAOIL Feb future was trading up by 1.15 per cent to Rs. 1277.40 per kg and stood as the top performer in domestic commodity market. COTTON Feb future was trading on marginally positive note at Rs. 20030.00 per bales, up by 0.65 per cent after an increase of 2.78 per cent on last closing price. CARDAMOM Mar future was trading at Rs. 1165.00 per kg, up by 0.31per cent after opened on marginally positive notes.CPO Feb future was trading on flat positive note, with an increase of 0.05 per cent to Rs. 579.50 per 10 kg after a decline of 0.31 per cent on last closing price.

METAL index was opened on flat positive note, with a rise of 0.04 per cent in the morning trading session. Under this index, Base Metals and Precious Metals were trading on negative notes. Under Base Metals, commodities like ALUMINIUM, LEAD, ZINC, COPPER and NICKEL futures were trading on negative notes. ALUMINIUM Feb future, trading down by 0.25 per cent to Rs. 141.70 per kg after a rise of 0.49 per cent on last closing price and LEADFeb future was the top loser in base metals commodities and trading lower by 0.51 per cent to Rs. 167.15 per kg after a rise of 0.72 per cent on last closing price. NICKEL Feb future trading down by 0.49 per cent to Rs. 875.80 per kg. ZINC Feb future was trading down by 0.26 per cent to Rs. 230.80 per kg and COPPER Feb future was trading lower by 0.46 per cent to Rs.455.10 per kg.

Precious Metals have shown a negative sign in the morning trading session. SILVER Mar future was trading on marginally negative note at Rs. 38159.00 per kg down by 0.60 per cent after opened on negative note at Rs. 38247.00 per kg while GOLD Apr future was also trading on marginally negative note at Rs. 30469.00 per 10 gm, decline by 0.21 per cent. Gold was down as the dollar remained strong on rising treasury yields.

ENERGY index opened on marginally negative note with a decline of 0.77 per cent on Today. NATURALGAS Feb future was trading on positive note at Rs. 171.60 per mmBtu, up by 0.35 per cent after a rise of 3.14 per cent on last closing price. CRUDEOIL Mar future was trading on negative note at Rs. 3972.00 per BBL, lower by 1.54 per cent and stood as the top loser in domestic commodity market. Oil prices fell on today, weighed down by a rebound in the U.S. dollar from three-year lows hit last week and an expected rise in U.S. oil production.
