COMMODITY MARKET THIS WEEK 05.02.2018 - 09.02.2018

India’s Multi Commodity Exchanges has recorded a weekly turnover of Rs. 13215952 Lacs during this week. MCXCOMDEX opened at 3679.80 on Monday and closed at 3521.30 on Friday, having registered a weekly loss of 4.30 per cent. METAL index opened at 5251.46 on Monday and closed at 5107.27 per cent on Friday, registering a weekly gain of 2.74 per cent while ENERGY index stood as the top loser among the indices on Multi commodity exchange, It opened at 2981.39 on Monday and closed at 2672.19 on Friday, registering a weekly loss of 8.43 per cent in this week. AGRI index has registered a weekly loss of 1.49 per cent after opened at 2793.60 on Monday and closed at 2751.86 on Friday.

Under AGRI index, commodities like, CARDAMOM, COTTON and MENTHAOIL futures were the weekly loser while CPO future was the only weekly gainer in this index. CARDAMOM Feb future has recorded a weekly loss of 0.03 per cent after opened at Rs. 1151.10 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 1150.70 per kg on Friday. COTTON Feb future registered a weekly loss of 0.65 per cent and reached at Rs. 20020.00 per bales on Friday after opened at Rs. 20150.00 per bales on Monday. MENTHAOIL Feb future was the top loser in this index, registered a weekly decline of 8.03 per cent after opened at Rs. 1562.00 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 1436.50 per kg on Friday. CPO Feb future has recorded a weekly gain of 0.63 per cent after opened at Rs. 570.10 per 10 kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 573.70 per 10 kg on Friday.

ENERGY index was the worst-performing indices in this week as both NATURALGAS and CRUDEOIL futures were trading on high negative notes. NATURALGAS Feb future has registered a weekly decline of 9.08 per cent and reached at Rs. 167.20 per mmBtu on Friday after opened at Rs. 183.90 per mmBtu on Monday. CRUDEOIL Feb future has recorded a weekly loss of 8.62 per cent and reached at Rs. 3807.00 per BBL on Friday after opened at Rs. 4166.00 per BBL on Monday. Crude oil prices traded on negative amid ongoing negative sentiment.

After being the top-performing indices in last week, METAL index has registered a weekly loss of 2.74 per cent in this week. Under Base Metals, all the commodities were emerged as the weekly losers during this week. ALUMINIUM Feb future has shown a downward line and registering a weekly loss of 2.94 per cent which was opened at Rs. 141.25 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 137.10 per kg on Friday. COPPER Feb future has registered a weekly loss of 4.37 per cent and reached at Rs. 432.90 per kg on Friday while NICKEL Feb future registered a weekly loss of 3.16 per cent after opened at Rs. 861.20 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 834.00 per kg on Friday. LEAD Feb future registered a weekly loss of 4.44 per cent and reached at Rs. 163.60 per kg and ZINC Feb future has recorded a weekly loss of 3.64 per cent and reached at Rs. 218.15 per kg on Friday.

Precious metals have shown negative trend during this week. GOLD Apr future contract was recorded a weekly decline of 0.80 per cent after opened on negative notes at Rs. 30250.00 per 10 gm on Monday and closed at Rs. 30009.00 per 10 gm on Friday declined despite a stronger reading on the consumer-demand side in China as sentiment on the dollar is weighed with a steeper yield curve. SILVER Mar future contract has registered weekly loss of 2.34 per cent after opened at Rs. 38480.00 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 37578.00 per kg on Friday.
