COMMODITY MARKET THIS WEEK 09.04.2018 - 13.04.2018

India’s Multi Commodity Exchanges has recorded a turnover of Rs. 13775718.74 Lacs during this week. MCXCOMDEX was opened at 3620.91 on Monday and closed at 3737.87 on Friday, registered a weekly gain of 3.23 per cent tracking a positive trend in energy and metal commodities and also made a weekly low of 3618.52 and high of 3760.24. METAL index opened at 5149.72 on Monday and closed at 5240.34 on Friday, recording a weekly rise of 1.76 per cent. ENERGY index stood as the top performer during this week which gained 7.49 per cent and reached at 3056.39 on Friday after opened at 2843.32 on Monday. AGRI index stood as the top loser among the indices on Multi commodity exchange, it opened at 2857.06 on Monday and closed at 2843.46 on Friday, registering a weekly loss of 0.48 per cent.

ENERGY index has registered a weekly gain of 7.49 per cent. CRUDEOIL Apr future reached at Rs. 4401.00 per BBL on Friday after opened at 4041.00 per BBL on Monday, registered a weekly gain of 8.91 per cent. Spot CRUDEOIL was up by 8.68 per cent to Rs. 4383.00 per BBL on Friday from Rs. 4033.00 per BBL on Monday. NATURALGAS Apr future has registered a weekly gain of 2.46 per cent and reached at Rs. 179.10 per mmBtu on Friday after opened at Rs. 174.80 per mmBtu on Monday. Spot NATURALGAS recorded a flat note in this week.

For this week METAL index has registered a gain of 1.76 per cent. Under Base metals, three of the five commodities were emerged as weekly gainer. ALUMINIUM futures for delivery in Apr was opened at Rs. 133.55 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 149.75 per kg on Friday, having weekly gain of 12.13 percent. COPPER for delivery in Apr recorded a weekly gain of 0.99 per cent and reached at Rs. 442.75 per kg on Friday. NICKEL Apr contract registered a weekly benefit of 5.92 per cent and reached at Rs. 904.90 per kg on Friday after opened at Rs.855.20 per kg on Monday due to healthy demand in the spot market. ZINC Apr future was opened at Rs. 210.05 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 202.70 per kg on Friday, registered a weekly loss of 3.50 per cent amid easing demand in the spot market. LEAD Apr Future has registered a weekly loss of 3.13 per cent to reach at Rs. 150.25 per kg on Friday after opened on flat negative note at Rs. 155.10 per kg on Monday as subdued demand from consuming industries in the market.

Precious metals have recorded a positive note in this week.GOLD Jun future has recorded a weekly gain of 1.50 per cent after opened at Rs. 30659.00 per 10 gm on Monday and closed at Rs. 31118.00 per 10 gm on Friday buoyed by geopolitical tensions focused on Syria and elsewhere that put the haven metal in demand. SpotGOLD was up by 1.14 per cent to reach at Rs. 30874.00 per kg on Friday.SILVER May contract has registered weekly of gain 1.48 per cent and closed at Rs. 38927.00 per kg on Friday tracking positive cues from the global market. Spot SILVER was up by 1.22 per cent to reach at Rs. 38485.00 per kg on Friday.

UnderAGRI index, commodities like,CARDAMOM and COTTON futures were the weekly gainers whileMENTHAOIL andCPO future were the weekly losers in this index.CARDAMOM Apr future was the top weekly gainer in this index with a gain of 9.31 per cent and reached at Rs. 1054.80 per kg on Friday amid rise in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. COTTON Apr future has registered a weekly gain of 1.02 per cent after opened at Rs. 20660.00 per bales on Monday and closed at Rs. 20870.00 per bales on Friday. Spot COTTON was up by 0.81 per cent to reach at Rs. 19940.00 per bales.MENTHAOIL Apr future registered a weekly decline of 0.58 per cent after opened at Rs. 1416.00 per kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 1407.80 per kg on Friday amid muted physical demand for Mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. CPO Apr future was opened at Rs. 653.00 per 10 kg on Monday and closed at Rs. 640.30 per 10 kg on Friday, registered a weekly loss of 0.20 per cent.
